FLAG CITY SLUGGERS 8 MICHIGAN MONARCHS 5 - FINAL
HILLSDALE COLLEGE - The Flag City Sluggers continue its remarkable turnaround with an 8-5 road victory over the Michigan Monarchs at Hillsdale College.
The Sluggers (11-9) have now won four straight games and are 11-3 after an 0-6 start to the season. Flag City is currently in second place in the North Division standings.
The Monarchs (11-11) are on the opposite end of the spectrum falling into third place in the North after leading the division at one point during the season. Michigan has dropped four straight games and are 2-6 during its current skid.
The Sluggers jumped out to an early 6-1 lead before Michigan turned it into a tight game. The Monarchs scored three runs in the fourth inning making the score 6-4 in favor of Flag City.
Michigan cut the deficit to 6-5 in the sixth inning when Cole Van Ameyde (Michigan State University commit) scored on an RBI-double by Manny Gutierrez (Henry Ford CC).
That was all the closer the Monarchs would get as the Sluggers scored twice in the seventh inning on a two-single by Jaxon Brown (Bowling Green State).
Leo McEnulty (Purdue Fort Wayne) and Cooper Ashby (Redlands CC) combined to pitch the final two innings securing the Flag City victory.
Caleb Smith (Three Rivers CC) had three hits and Harrison Engskov (Arkansas State transfer) scored three runs for the Sluggers.
The series continues on Wednesday at Hill Stadium and TFO Field with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
