Box Score

MARATHON DIAMONDS - The Flag City Sluggers explode to an early 15-0 lead on the way to a 19-4 run-rule victory at home over the Southern Ohio Copperheads.

Flag City (10-9) moved into second place in the GLSCL North Division standings with the victory. This is an impressive feat after staring the season 0-6.

Chris Franks (Ashland University) got the scoring started when he was forced in from third base on a bases loaded walk issued to Tanner Powell (Loyola University commit). With the bases still loaded, Caleb Smith (Three Rivers CC) delivered a two-run single. That was followed by Powell coming around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Andrew Stechschulte (Ohio Northern).

Harrison Engskov (Arkansas State transfer) launched a three-run homer as part of a four-run inning in the second. The Sluggers put seven more on the board in the third inning cruising to the victory.

Engskov was 2-for-2 at the plate with four RBI’s and three runs scored. Brayden Curlis (Bowling Green State) scored four runs and Franks stole three bases.

Tylan Graves (Southwest Tennessee CC) went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Copperheads. Alex Taylor (Ohio University) came through with a two-run single in the sixth inning helping Southern Ohio avoid being shut out when they scored four runs in the sixth inning.

Flag City makes the trip to Hillsdale taking on the Michigan Monarchs, the team they just bumped from the second place spot in the standings.
