FLAG CITY SLUGGERS 16 GRAND LAKE MARINERS 10 - FINAL
MARATHON DIAMONDS - The Flag City Sluggers held on to win a combined 26-run, 30-hit slugfest coming away with a 16-10 win over the Grand Lake Mariners.
Flag City (15-16) never scored less than three runs in any of the four innings that it crossed the plate.
Will Lafferty (Marshall University transfer) went 3-for-6 at the plate for the Sluggers with a double and four RBIs. Harrison Engskov (Arkansas State transfer) was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Chris Franks (Ashland University) and both of the Gardner brothers, Trey (Three Rivers CC) and Matt (Little Rock), each scored three runs.
The Mariners (10-22) was not devoid a offense superlatives either generating 14 hits on the night.
Jacob Loving (Palomar College) was 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI’s. Sage Adams (Purdue Fort Wayne) was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Jake Lopez (University of Scranton transfer) and Isaac Sobieszczyk (Missouri Western commit) also provided two hits apiece.
The four-game series concludes on Sunday in Celina at Montgomery Field starting at 4:05pm. The Sluggers will be going for the series victory while the Mariners will be trying to salvage a split.
